Amarnath Yatra by Helicopter
Submitted by Pushpender on Sat, 27/02/2010 - 1:56pmThe extremely sacred Amarnath Yatra is a Hindu devotee's trip to the
Amarnath Cave, given the name after the Mount Amarnath at the height of
5,486 m. Owing to the high elevation; the cave is enclosed with snow
for nearly all part of the year. It is only for a short period in
summer that devotees are able to embark on a journey up to the cave.
Though the cave of Amarnath is placed at a very great height where
temperature is quite low and the journey is grueling and difficult
nothing seems to dishearten the pilgrims from roving there. Beyond
doubt, holiness is the means of support of the nation in India.
Currently, Amarnathji Yatra is an indispensable part of the Hindu
pilgrimage and though the way is not easy to negotiate, it is at the
same time exciting. Each year, numerous devotees come to pay reverence
before Shiva in one of his renowned Himalayan dwellings.
Lord Shiva considered to be the Creator, Preserver and the Destructor
Lord Shiva is the maker, protector as well as the destroyer of this
world. The Lord's characteristics stand for his victory over the
demonic actions, and stillness of human nature. Amarnathji yatra

Oceansat-2 up: Will help keep better watch on seas, cyclones
Submitted by infocontrol on Thu, 24/09/2009 - 10:58amIt was the 15th consecutive successful mission for the 44-metre,
230-tonne launch vehicle, designated C-14 for this mission, ever since it failed
on its debut on September 20, 1993.
"The PSLV is like old wine, it's
improving with age,'' said ISRO chairman G Madhavan Nair after what he said was
an excellent and precise launch. Oceansat-2, the country's second ocean studies
satellite that aims to aid fishermen in identifying fishing zones and weathermen
to forecast cyclones by measuring sea surface winds, was injected in a 728-km
orbit, exactly 1,081 seconds after lift-off at 11.51 am.

indication of the initial glitches. During the 51-hour countdown (which began on
Monday), scientists discovered an anomaly in the reaction control package. "We
replaced it immediately. Normally, it would have taken a week, but we didn't
want to lose even a minute,'' Nair said later.
